Getting Started

Tap the + button on the Home screen. Enter your class name, choose meeting days, and add your student roster. You can also optionally tag students with performance levels, ELL, or SEN status for smarter group generation.

Tap a class card to open it, mark any absent students, then tap Roll Call. Roollo uses equity-weighted selection — students who haven't been called recently are more likely to be chosen. This ensures participation is balanced over time, not just random.

Open a class and tap Groups. Choose how many groups you want and whether to balance by performance level, ELL, or SEN status. Roollo will generate balanced groups based on your settings. You can re-shuffle as many times as you need.

Live Check-In lets students join a session via QR code on their own device. You can collect names, optional emails, and survey responses in real time. Sessions are created from the Home screen and do not require students to have the Roollo app.

Data & Privacy

All class rosters, student attributes, and analytics live entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server. If you enable iCloud Sync via Sign in with Apple, a backup is stored in your personal iCloud account — Brinl LLC never has access to it.

During a live session, participant names (and optionally emails and survey responses) are temporarily stored in Firebase Realtime Database to enable real-time check-in. This data is session-scoped and temporary. It is only accessible to you as the session creator. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

You can delete individual classes or students from within the app at any time. Uninstalling Roollo removes all locally stored data. If you use iCloud Sync, you can delete the Roollo backup from your iCloud settings in iOS.

Sign in with Apple is used exclusively for iCloud backup and sync across your devices. We do not collect your email address through Sign in with Apple, and the feature is entirely optional. The app works fully without it.

Annual — $19.99/year. Full access, billed yearly. Cancel anytime before renewal.

Lifetime — $49.99 once. Pay once, yours forever. No renewals, ever.

There are no hidden fees and no difference in features between plans.

Yes. Roollo lets you create and manage one class for free so you can experience the core features before purchasing. The full unlock (unlimited classes, analytics, live sessions) requires either the Annual or Lifetime plan.

Open Roollo on your new device and tap Restore Purchase in the settings or purchase screen. You must be signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. For Lifetime purchases, the restore is free and instant. For Annual subscribers, your access is tied to your active subscription — just sign in with the same Apple ID.

All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store. Refund requests must be submitted through Apple. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Troubleshooting

Make sure both you and your students have an active internet connection. Students scan the QR code displayed on your screen — they do not need the Roollo app installed. If the QR code isn't scanning, try tapping to regenerate it within the session. If issues persist, email us.

Analytics requires at least a few Roll Call sessions to display meaningful data. Run Roll Call with your class a few times and return to Analytics — data will populate as session history builds. Make sure you're selecting the correct class and timeframe in the Analytics filter.

Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID on both devices and that iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings → Apple ID → iCloud. If sync still isn't working, try signing out and back in to Roollo on one device, then wait a few minutes.
